Workshops for Trade Union Representatives, spring 2009

Banner will be contributing to workshops within Trade Union Representatives courses run by the Workers Educational Association in the West Midlands in June and other dates to be arranged in 2009. These will have three elements:

• Dig Where You Stand: the trade unionists will investigate the international links of the companies they work for, and a mapping of the workplace to reveal how many migrant workers there are.

map of Congo Brazzaville and Congo Kinshasa• Performance: Banner will talk about and perform an extract from "They get free mobiles...don't they?" which features interviews with Congolese emigres, documentary film, music and song

• Discussion on issues raised: relating to employers, the government, international agencies, migration and migrant workers in the UK public and private sectors, UK/Congo economics etc,
