Banner, a radical national company (with occasional international touring), is seeking a professional musician/singer to join the company for its autumn tour of “They get free mobiles . . . don’t they?” (including a visit to Norway in October) and for its 2009 production, We Share the Same Sky. The new show will be a hard-hitting multimedia documentary theatre production, mixing live roots-based music with powerful video footage, to tell the stories of migrants past and present to the UK.

Essentially the work entails joining a team of musicians and singers rehearsing and performing “They get free mobiles . . . don’t they?” and for the final development, rehearsing and performing of We Share the Same Sky which will tour in the UK during 2009. The style will be similar to previous Banner shows like "They get free mobiles...don't they?" and Burning Issues. If you have broadband you might like to download a video clip of a sequence from Burning Issues by clicking here - but beware, it is a very large file (over 11MB)

We are looking for a strong singer/guitarist or singer/keyboard player able to play in a range of styles (eg rock, blues, folk, jazz, etc). Experience of Middle Eastern and African styles would be a strong advantage.

Auditions will take place in Birmingham during the week beginning 21 July
Rehearsals will be from October 2008 for “They get free mobiles . . . don’t they?”, and there may be some development days for the new show in both September and December 2008.
Touring – Touring of “They get free mobiles . . . don’t they?” will be in October and early November and We Share the Same Sky will tour from February 2009.
Fees are commensurate with Musicians Union rates.
