Spring tour
Banner’s spring tour of Wild Geese and Migrant Voices ranged from Brighton to Cumbria, and from Cwmbran to Kings Lynn. The mix of live performance with video stories of those who have travelled from much further afield to make their lives in the UK were well received and prompted enthusiastic responses: "We loved the show. Like so many people in this country we know how migrant workers have been denied a voice or even the right to exist here. To have a group reclaiming their right to be heard, reclaiming the freedom to speak, is an inspiration." "Love the flamenco guitar music – so intense and passionate – full of pain – liked mixing of different styles. No boundaries. No borders!" The tour also included two performances for school audiences in Birmingham and Torfaen. Teachers were delighted with the production and with the workshops / discussions which accompanied them. "Can I again thank you and your team for the fantastic performance of Wild Geese at Turves Green? What we didn’t know at the time was that there was a group of visiting teachers from Chicago listening . . . Their comments, in an open forum meeting later, were that if the USA had such insight and liberalism in its education delivery there may be more tolerance and less reasons for them to get into so many world conflicts."
