Reviews - Elixir of Life cassette
(now available on CD)
“This a marvellous, inspiring tape." - Tony Benn
“This is a brilliant tape! Out of all the tapes I’ve received lately, this is the only one I play in my car stereo”.
Sean McGee - Editor, Rock ‘N Reel.
“Congratulations! A great cassette. .... I’d like to learn some of the songs on the tape. “David and Goliath” sends shivers down my spine..., Fantastic, what more can I say!” - Roy Bailey
“Elixir of Life continues Banner Theatre’s record of reflecting the struggles of our times from the bottom up but with top quality... (Banner) consistently infuse inspiration and savage wit into their songs , weaving together recorded speech with media footage and the folk, blues and rock music of Dave Rogers, Dave Dale and friends.”
Mark Heebert - Editor Yorkshire Miner.
“My dictionary defines elixir as a ‘magic potion for prolonging life’... The hours I’ve spent listening have certainly been magic, filled by turns with both laughter and tears. The Banner selections touch on just about every aspect of life in Tory Britain, and on the excruciating realities of present day imperialism for the people of Iraq, Ireland and South Africa.”
Steve Cook - Morning Star.
Dave Rogers has worked for Banner Theatre since it was founded in 1973, Dave
Dale joined from 1984-1997. This compilation CD brings fresh life to
previously issued tape releases, the songs are of social justice, dealing with issues like deportation, workers rights and the communities affected by
such anguish, heartfelt music about people. Music with a message.
